The District Administration of South Andaman has intensified its crackdown on illegal earth extraction and dumping, taking strict action against violators found flouting the Land Revenue Regulations.
During a recent inspection in Pahargaon village, revenue officials uncovered unauthorized earth extraction and dumping activities. Authorities promptly imposed a fine of ₹65,600 on the offenders, with further legal proceedings underway.
In a similar operation at Lamba Line village, revenue teams identified comparable violations, resulting in a fine of ₹24,000 against those involved.
In total, approximately 162 cubic meters of earth were found to have been illegally extracted from the two sites without the required permissions.
Issuing a stern warning, the Deputy Commissioner cautioned that illegal mining, transportation, and dumping of earth will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The administration emphasized that violators will face strict penal action and the full force of the law.
Citizens have been urged to comply with legal norms related to land use, mining, and material movement. The District Administration has also appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities concerning illegal extraction or dumping.
