On April 1st, 2024, a significant crackdown on illegal timber trade ensued as a team from the Police Central Crime Station acted upon specific intelligence. The operation led by Inspector Girish Kumar, Station House Officer of PS CCS, comprised of HC Venkateshwar Rao, HC Sanjit Madhu, along with constables K. Rajendran, N. Thangaraj, and Y. Srinivas Rao.
Their operation yielded a notable success as they apprehended one individual identified as Samar Chandra Das, son of Late. Sunil Chandra Das, residing at Kala Pathar, Sippighat. The raid on his premises resulted in the discovery of 174 pieces of illegal sawn padauk timber, measuring 1.087 cubic meters in total, along with 8 door frames.
Following the standard procedure, the confiscated padauk timbers and related materials were seized, and Samar Chandra Das was detained for further investigation.
The detained individual along with the seized articles were handed over to Forest Department, Manglutan Range.
