IMD Issues Weather Warning for A & N Islands, Fishermen Warned Not to Enter Sea till 30th November

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather warnings for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Monday, November 27th, 2023:

Heavy Rain: Anticipated rainfall of 7-11 cm is expected in one or two locations across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Thunderstorms: Lightning is forecasted to accompany thunderstorms in certain areas of the islands.

Tuesday, November 28th & Wednesday, November 29th, 2023:

Nicobar Islands: Anticipated heavy to very heavy rain of 7-20 cm is expected in select areas of the Nicobar Islands.

Andaman Islands: Heavy rainfall of 7-11 cm forecasted in one or two locations.

Thunderstorms with Lightning: Gusty winds along with lightning expected in specific areas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Thursday, November 30th, 2023:

Rainfall: Expected heavy rain of 7-11 cm in one or two places across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Thunderstorm:  Lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph forecasted in specific locations.

Fishermen Warning: The IMD has issued a warning for fishermen in anticipation of a low-pressure area forming on November 27th, 2023, and potentially intensifying into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around November 29th, 2023. Squally weather conditions with wind speeds exceeding 45 kmph are expected over the Andaman Sea and nearby regions. Fishermen are strongly advised against venturing into the sea from November 27th to November 30th, 2023.
