Advancing the ambitious vision of ‘Digital India,’ a significant stride was taken on August 14th as the inaugural e-Corner was unveiled at Car Nicobar. The momentous event was graced by the presence of Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, who officiated the opening ceremony at the DC Office premises.
Amid a gathering that included officials such as Mr. Singh Piyush Vijaykaran, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Administrative Officers, and members of the Tribal community, the inauguration symbolised a critical shift towards streamlined and transparent citizen services. This digital hub will serve as a one-stop destination for accessing a comprehensive range of online services.
The newly launched e-Corner empowers citizens by providing convenient and efficient access to various government services, thereby eliminating the need for them to navigate through bureaucratic hurdles. This innovative platform, inaugurated on the eve of India’s 77th Independence Day, not only exemplifies the nation’s technological progress but also underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing citizen-centric services.
Among the services now seamlessly accessible through the e-Corner are Tribal Certificate, Resident Certificate, Local Certificate, Income Certificate, Senior Citizen Certificate, Tribal Pass applications and renewals, Unemployment Certificate issuance, Family Member and Dependent Certificates.
Highlighting the monumental step towards modernisation and efficiency, Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, informed that the innovative platform facilitates government officials and employees in accessing the system directly from their respective departments, effectively bridging the gap between administrative operations and the public.
This pioneering step taken in Nicobar District is only the beginning. Plans are underway to establish similar e-Corners in Campbell Bay, Nancowrie, Katchal, Chowra, and Teressa Island. The objective is to enable comprehensive online services to permeate every corner of the district, ultimately serving the entire community more effectively and efficiently.
As part of the inaugural function, DC Nicobar extended digitalized senior citizen certificates to applicants, signifying the seamless transition to a digital era of service provision. Mr. Singh Piyush Vijaykaran, AC (HQ), appealed to the general public to take full advantage of the user-friendly e-Corner, tapping into the convenience of free online services.
With the inauguration of the e-Corner at Car Nicobar, the region takes a decisive step towards integrating digitalization with public services, propelling India’s journey into a more connected and efficient future.
