Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands recently wrote a letter to the Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He requested the authorities to provide additional Marks to Home Guard (Non-Regular) Candidates at par with the NCC Certificate Holders for recruitment to the post of Police Constable.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi also mentioned that two extra marks may be given to Home Guard Volunteers during recruitment to the post of Police Constables or they may be given some reservation.
Mr. Bairagi further in his letter mentioned that in the draft recruitment rules for Police Constable, two additional marks have been mentioned for those holding NCC Certificate, but no weightage has been given to Home Guards who have been performing their duties at par with Police Constables for many years.
Mr. Bairagi also mentioned that many states provide reservations in Police Recruitment under Special Categories in which Home Guard Personnel have been included. Mr. Bairagi also enclosed a copy of the recruitment rules published by the state of Andhra Pradesh for the reference of the authorities.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi requested the authorities to include additional marks for Home Guards at par with NCC Certificate Holders for the recruitment to the post of Police Constable or provide adequate reservation for them.
