The Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (CS&CA) has urged all ration card beneficiaries in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to update and correct their personal details after a review of data in the Smart PDS 2.0 system revealed widespread inaccuracies and incomplete information in a large number of ration cards.

According to the Directorate, missing or incorrect entries such as complete residential address with PIN code, mobile number, village or ward number, tehsil, district and other mandatory particulars are creating difficulties in verification, approval and processing of ration card–related services. These deficiencies are affecting services such as updation, correction and other beneficiary-oriented facilities, and may even lead to the risk of cancellation of ration cards if not rectified.

To ensure the smooth functioning of the Smart PDS 2.0 system and timely delivery of Public Distribution System (PDS) services, all ration card beneficiaries have been advised to mandatorily update or correct their details through the self-service online mode available on the official Smart PDS 2.0 portal at an.smartpds.nic.in. Beneficiaries have been specifically instructed to ensure that all mandatory fields are accurately filled while submitting applications for updation or correction.

The Directorate has also directed Fair Price Shop (FPS) owners to actively inform and guide ration card holders attached to their shops about the mandatory requirements and to assist them, wherever necessary, in applying online for correction or updation of details through the Smart PDS 2.0 platform.

In addition to the online facility, beneficiaries may also approach the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs at Room No. 24, Sri Vijaya Puram, or their respective Supply Units for submitting applications related to updation or correction of ration card details.

The Department has sought the cooperation of all ration card beneficiaries in maintaining accurate records to ensure efficient, transparent and hassle-free functioning of the Public Distribution System. For further information or assistance, beneficiaries can contact the toll-free helpline at 03192-230337.
