In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has launched a series of proactive initiatives under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, aimed at enhancing electoral participation and environmental awareness.
Demonstrating a dedication to community involvement and civic duty, the IRBn, A&N Police organised a range of engaging events designed to promote electoral awareness, unity, and environmental consciousness among citizens.
Bullet Rally Captivates Attention: Kicking off the initiative on April 3, 2024, a Bullet Rally roared through the streets, starting from IRBn(HQ), Port Mout, and covering a distance of 75 kilometres to Wandoor village. The rally, featuring 100 participants from the A&N Police on 50 bullets, donned vibrant electoral insignia t-shirts and held banners, effectively engaging communities and emphasising the significance of every citizen’s vote in shaping the nation’s future.
Beach Cleaning Drive: On April 10, 2024, the A&N Police led a beach cleaning drive at Corbyn’s Cove beach, underlining the vital link between environmental stewardship and democratic participation. With 103 IRBn volunteers in attendance, the cleanup effort focused on removing plastic waste and debris. Additionally, an informative skit on voter awareness was presented to the public, aligning with the theme of “Chunaav ka Parv Deshka Garv.”
Fitness Run Promotes Participation: Continuing the momentum, a vibrant 5-kilometre fitness run was organised on April 11, 2024, from Tushnabad village to Port Mout. The event brought together 158 participants from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including civilians and police personnel, symbolising the journey towards a stronger democracy through active engagement in the electoral process. It served as a platform for promoting voter awareness and fostering camaraderie among participants.
Under the guidance of Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivatsava, DGP, ANI, and the supervision of Ms. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, IGP, ANI, Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP(IRBn) & Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, Superintendent of Police/Commandant(IRBn), these initiatives underscore the A&N Police’s unwavering commitment to promoting electoral literacy, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
