The Industries Department marked International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm on Monday, celebrating the achievements of women entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals. The event, held in the department’s Conference Hall, featured Mr. Rakesh Das, Director of Industries, as the chief guest, with Deputy Directors Mr. Mohd. Ishaque and Ms. Sunita Kumari as special guests.
A key highlight of the event was the inspiring accounts shared by three successful women entrepreneurs who have built their businesses with support from government schemes such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), and various startup initiatives. These women spoke about their journeys, shedding light on the challenges they encountered and the perseverance that led them to success.
In his address, Mr. Rakesh Das praised the resilience and determination of women entrepreneurs, emphasizing their vital role in the country’s economic growth. He reiterated the Industries Department’s commitment to supporting aspiring women entrepreneurs through financial assistance, training programs, and mentorship opportunities.
The event also featured interactive games and cultural performances, fostering a sense of camaraderie and celebration among attendees. Participants enthusiastically engaged in the activities, making the occasion both informative and enjoyable.
The celebration concluded with an encouraging message from Ms. Meera Nambiar, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), urging women to continue breaking barriers and striving for success in the business world. The Industries Department reaffirmed its dedication to creating a supportive ecosystem for women-led enterprises, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future.
