INSPIRE–MANAK Exhibition and Project Competition Held at Sri Vijaya Puram

The District/State-Level Exhibition and Project Competition (2024–25) under the INSPIRE Awards–MANAK scheme was organised by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, on Monday at the Auditorium of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram.

A total of 17 student innovators participated in the competition, including online participants from Government Senior Secondary School, Malacca, and Government Senior Secondary School, Vijay Nagar, showcasing a range of need-based and innovative projects.

Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, Directorate of Education, attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he highlighted the significance of the INSPIRE–MANAK Award as a national platform that enables young innovators to transform local, problem-solving ideas into nationally recognised innovations. He encouraged students to pursue creativity, innovation, and scientific thinking to address societal challenges.

Earlier, Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science), delivered the welcome address and explained the objectives of the INSPIRE–MANAK scheme, its registration process, and the evaluation methodology. He motivated students to nurture a scientific temperament and develop innovations with social relevance.

The projects were evaluated by a panel comprising Ms. Sandhya Tiwari, Online Evaluator from the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), New Delhi; Mr. Manu Vasistha, Senior Associate Professor, DBRAIT; Ms. Pragya, Guest Faculty, TGCE; and Mr. Raj Babu, Technician, Department of Science and Technology. The evaluators also provided constructive feedback and guidance to the participants.

In the results, Kumari Avanita A of PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Hut Bay, won the First Prize for her project titled “Manual Rope Making Machine.” The Second Prize was secured by Kumari Barsa Biswas of Government Middle School, Neil 5, for “Automatic Indelible Ink Applier,” while the Third Prize went to Kumari Shalini of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sita Nagar, Diglipur, for “Remote Controlled Tubelight Installation Mechanism.” Consolation prizes were awarded to Kumar Rohit Sikder of Government Secondary School, Madhupur-1, and Kumar Nasredh Ekka of Government Senior Secondary School, Subhashgram.

The top five projects from the competition have been nominated for participation at the national level under the INSPIRE–MANAK Award Scheme.

During the prize distribution ceremony, Mr. Ram Pravesh distributed prizes and participation certificates to the winners and participants. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Chanchal Singha Roy, Science Supervisor, Directorate of Education.
