World Braille Day was observed with enthusiasm and purpose at the Block Level Resource Room of GSSS Diglipur under the Inclusive Education initiative of Samagra Shiksha. The event, held on January 4, aimed to inspire Children with Special Needs (CwSN) and their parents by highlighting the life and achievements of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille system.
The program was organized under the coordination of Ms. S. Vijaya, Block Resource Person (CwSN), and attended by distinguished guests, parents, and children. Ms. Salochna, Block Project Officer, Diglipur, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Mr. Manoranjan, Branch Manager, SBI Diglipur, graced the occasion as the guest of honour, while Dr. C. Pushpavalli, Principal of GSSS Diglipur, attended as a special guest. Mr. Ashitosh Dey, PGT, GSSS Diglipur, was a special invitee.
In her inaugural address, the chief guest, Ms. Salochna, encouraged children and parents to recognize their unique potential and work diligently toward their goals. She emphasized the importance of fostering a positive outlook and unlocking every child’s capabilities.
The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by Ms. N. Riya Nandan, PSRT, who set an engaging and vibrant tone for the day.
A highlight of the program was a motivational story shared by Mr. Manoranjan, who recounted the inspiring journey of a staff member with disabilities who overcame challenges to achieve personal and professional milestones. ID kits were distributed to the children during the event, further adding to the significance of the occasion.
Parents and teachers benefited from insightful sessions conducted by experts. Mr. Pankaj Sarkar, Special Educator, presented an inspiring biography of Louis Braille, connecting his achievements to the importance of inclusive education. Ms. Rakhi Kabiraj, BRP (CwSN), introduced the fundamentals of the Braille system, while Mr. Jai Singh, Special Educator (SS), demonstrated orientation and mobility techniques to the participants.
The program concluded with a joyful dance activity for the children, spreading happiness and fostering a sense of unity among the attendees. The event left a lasting impression, reinforcing the commitment to inclusivity and progress in education for all.
