As part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (IRCAs) Nicobar District, under the Social Welfare Department, organized a Mini Marathon on June 2. The event was flagged off by Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar and Chairperson of IRCAs, from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and concluded at BJR Stadium Tamaloo in Car Nicobar.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Kale emphasized the critical importance of building a drug-free society. He urged the youth to actively engage in such constructive activities that promote health and awareness. He also lauded the organizers and participants for their commitment to spreading the message of drug prevention through fitness.
Ms. Sunita Kumari, Child Development Project Officer (Tribal Project), Car Nicobar, also spoke at the event. She underscored the significance of early intervention and strong community support in preventing substance abuse. Ms. Kumari called for enhanced collaboration between the Police and Health Departments to amplify the effectiveness of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan initiative.
The Mini Marathon drew enthusiastic participation from various sections of the community, reinforcing Nicobar District’s commitment to a drug-free future.
