Intensive Crackdown by South Andaman District Police Targets Illegal Activities

In a relentless effort to clamp down on illegal activities, the South Andaman District Police has intensified its operations against the illegal sale of illicit liquor, contraband drugs, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) within their jurisdictions.

From the 16th to the 31st of March, 2024, South Andaman District Police registered a total of 65 Excise cases across various Police Stations, resulting in the apprehension of 65 individuals. Seizures during this period included 188.405 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 228.98 kilograms of Handia, and 24 litres of illicit liquor. Additionally, authorities confiscated cash amounting to Rs. 251,050 in connection with MCC violations. In ongoing efforts, regular jungle searches yielded the recovery and subsequent destruction of 115 litres of lehan.

The South Andaman District Police emphasised their commitment to eradicating bootlegging, drug peddling, and other antisocial activities within the region. They vowed to maintain strict vigilance over perpetrators of such crimes. Members of the public are urged to provide credible information regarding narcotics, illegal liquor sales, MCC violations, gambling, or any other illicit activities through telephone numbers: 100, 112, and 03192-236641. Informers’ identities will be kept confidential.
