Inter-Primary School Football Tournament Sees Thrilling Matches on Day Two

The Inter Primary School Football League-cum-Knockout Tournament 2026, organised by the Office of the Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman, continued for the second consecutive day on Wednesday at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram, with young footballers putting up spirited performances.

Students from primary schools across the South Andaman Zone showcased determination, skill and teamwork, drawing enthusiastic support from spectators as the tournament gained momentum.

In the Boys’ Category, GSS Junglighat registered a narrow 1–0 victory over GSS South Point, while GMSSS Aberdeen dominated their encounter, defeating GPS Nayagaon by a convincing 5–0 margin.

The Girls’ Category witnessed several closely contested and high-scoring matches. GSSS Garacharma edged past GSSS RBV with a 1–0 win, while GPS GDMS (Primary) defeated GSSS School Line 2–0. GSSS Bhatubasti secured a 1–0 victory over Lamba Line, and GSSS Prothrapur outplayed GPS Indira Nagar with a 4–0 win. In another match, GMS Mariyamma Temple emerged victorious against GMS Sippighat, winning 4–0.

The tournament aims to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness and teamwork among students, while providing a platform to identify young talent at the grassroots level. Matches will continue in the coming days as teams compete for a place in the knockout stages.
