The Inter School Football Knock-Out Tournament for Primary and Secondary level girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme commenced recently across South Andaman Educational Zone, with matches being held at the Junglighat School Ground and Bhatubasti School Ground.
At the Junglighat venue, Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Sports/Education), graced the occasion as the chief guest. He encouraged the participating girl students to practice football daily and aim for more than 400 kicks a day to hone their skills. Mr. Singh also lauded the efforts of the DEO South Andaman team for organizing the event and promoting girls’ participation in sports.
Meanwhile, the Bhatubasti ground witnessed Mr. Gyansheel Dubey, Head of Office, Directorate of Education, as the chief guest, with Mr. D. Pushparajan, Vice Principal, GSSS Bhatubasti, serving as the guest of honour. Both dignitaries extended their best wishes and blessings to all the young players participating in the tournament.
A total of eight matches were played on the opening day, marking an enthusiastic start to the sporting event aimed at empowering girls through sports.
