The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed with great enthusiasm at Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj under the Directorate of Social Welfare. The programme aimed to recognise the abilities and contributions of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and raise awareness on their rights and well-being.
Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Director of Social Welfare, graced the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the efforts of the institution in building a supportive space for children with special needs and emphasised the importance of empowerment, equal opportunities and dignity for every child. The Medical Officer from PHC Ferrargunj was also present.
The event began with an inaugural address by Ms. Sheela Kar, In-charge of Abbhyuday Complex, who highlighted the need for an inclusive society where every individual’s abilities are valued and respected.
A series of activities, including singing, dancing, drawing and sports competitions, were organised, providing children with a platform to showcase their talents. Prizes were later distributed to winners by the chief guest, who encouraged the children to continue nurturing their abilities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Irene Nicolas, CDPO, Ferrargunj.
