Right to Information is one of the most powerful laws empowering the citizens of our country. The country has seen many positive uses of the Right to Information Act.
Recently, IT Department launched 21 New G2C Services of the Revenue Department on the E-District Portal. One of the 21 services was the online application module for seeking information under RTI from the Revenue Department.
While many states have their online application portal for seeking information under RTI Act, the departments under Andaman and Nicobar Administration are still following the manual process.
Online RTI Application Portal for seeking information from all departments of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will empower the citizens. Implementation of the application facilitating Online RTI in all departments of the Administration will also ensure that the Citizens can seek information from the offices situated in the remotest corners of the Islands without hassles.
The Online RTI Application Module should also have a service for the collection of online payments for photocopying the required documents (in case certified photocopies are sought) so that the citizens do not have to visit the office to deposit the amount for photocopying of documents.
Departments will also be able to better manage the RTI Applications and issue faster responses once the whole process is brought online.
It’s high time to do away with the manual RTI process and introduce faster, better and more efficient online RTI.
