Mr. T.S.G. Bhasker, National Vice-President of the INTUC Federation and President of the Forest Labour Union, held a crucial meeting today with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Forest Department, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, to address key concerns related to the welfare of workers at the Chatham Saw Mill.
He was accompanied by office bearers of the Works Committee, Mill Division Chatham, along with representatives of the INTUC Federation. At the outset, members of the Works Committee extended a warm gesture by presenting a bouquet to the PCCF.
During the meeting, Mr. Bhasker submitted a letter outlining a charter of demands and engaged in discussions concerning the challenges and welfare issues faced by mill workers. He emphasized the need for prompt redressal of longstanding grievances to ensure better working conditions and fair treatment of the workforce.
The PCCF acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the delegation that appropriate measures would be initiated at the earliest to address the issues highlighted during the interaction.
