The Island Coconut Festival 2025 concluded on a vibrant note at the ITF Ground on October 10, marking the end of two days of lively festivities, cultural showcases, and spirited competitions. Organized by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with allied departments and associations, the festival culminated with an impressive prize distribution ceremony that drew an enthusiastic crowd.
Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director (IP&T), graced the valedictory function as the chief guest and presented prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the event. In his address, Mr. Chamadia emphasized the cultural and economic significance of coconut in the lives of islanders, symbolizing their deep connection with nature. He noted that the festival not only reflects the Islands’ rich heritage and community spirit but also promotes local craftsmanship, cuisine, and tourism. He further assured that the Department would continue to organize such events to preserve traditional practices and boost tourism across the Islands.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Department of Art & Culture presented a captivating cultural programme that delighted the large gathering. Artistes from KRG Kalai Kaveri and MJ Music Academy enthralled the audience with semi-classical, folk, and fusion dance performances. The evening also featured vibrant musical presentations by Sitesh Live Orchestra and Soul Music Association, which kept the crowd entertained throughout.
The festival grounds buzzed with activity as visitors explored stalls showcasing local products, crafts, and coconut-based delicacies. The event served as a lively platform to celebrate both tradition and innovation, with children and families joining in the fun.
The two-day celebration concluded amid much cheer and enthusiasm, with the Tourism Department distributing cash prizes to the winners of various competitions, marking a fitting close to the Island Coconut Festival 2025.
