The much-anticipated second edition of the Island Coconut Festival 2025 is set to begin today at 3 PM at the ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram. Organized by the Department of Tourism, A&N Administration, in collaboration with allied departments, the two-day festival celebrates the theme: “Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands.”

The festival promises a vibrant showcase of the Islands’ traditions, featuring folk performances, coconut-based culinary contests, and displays of local handicrafts and artisan creations. It will also serve as a platform for Self Help Groups (SHGs) and local entrepreneurs to promote indigenous products and generate income.

Open to visitors from 3 PM to 10 PM, the festival will feature competitions such as de-husking contests for men and women, handicraft contests using coconut tree parts, and on-the-spot cooking competitions, with cash prizes for winners. Children and youth can participate in interactive zones, including chess, painting, and drawing, with materials provided by the Tourism Department.

Authorities have urged the public to actively participate and make the festival a lively and inclusive celebration.
