Island Coconut Festival 2025 to Celebrate Culture, Cuisine, and Crafts at ITF Pavilion

The Directorate of Tourism is all set to host the Island Coconut Festival 2025 on May 30 and 31 at the ITF Pavilion, Sri Vijaya Puram. To be held in collaboration with various allied departments and associations, the festival will run from 4 PM to 9 PM on both days under the theme “Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands.”

The event aims to promote coconut-based tourism and livelihoods by showcasing the versatile uses of coconut in traditional food, crafts, and wellness. Through interactive activities, exhibitions, and tasting zones, the festival promises an immersive cultural experience for both tourists and locals.

Government departments will set up stalls displaying coconut-based products that reflect the islands’ rich cultural heritage and economic practices. Highlights of the event include engaging competitions such as Coconut Rangoli, coconut de-husking, and a special cooking competition centered around coconut-based dishes. Winners will receive cash prizes from the Tourism Department.

Participants in the cooking competition are permitted to prepare dishes at home, with final presentation and garnishing to be done on-site on May 30. Registrations are currently open, and interested individuals can contact Ms. Reshma, Coordinator, Directorate of RD & Panchayat at 7063970389. All participants must report by 2 PM on May 30.

Those joining the Rangoli and de-husking competitions should also report by 2 PM to Dr. Rekha (Assistant Director, Agriculture Department) at 9434273939 or Mr. Navashakti (Assistant Director, Extension, Agriculture Department) at 9474213525.

In a special initiative for young visitors, a Kids Zone will be set up in collaboration with the Education Department. Children interested in participating are advised to report by 3 PM on May 30 at Stall No. 21 near the ITF Ground.

Applications for remaining stalls are being invited once again. The rates are ₹4,500 for food stalls, ₹3,500 for general stalls, and ₹450 and ₹400 for kiosks (for two days). The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to 11 AM on May 29, 2025.
