Sri Vijaya Puram is set to come alive with the flavours, traditions and cultural heritage of the sea as the Island Seafood Festival–2026 will be held on January 15 and 16, 2026, from 5.30 PM to 9.30 PM at the Marina Park stretch road.

The two-day festival is being organised by the Department of Fisheries in association with the Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) Department, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, with financial support from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad. The event will place special emphasis on Tuna Cluster Development in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Envisioned as a vibrant celebration of the islands’ abundant marine resources and fisheries-based livelihoods, the festival aims to bring together fishers, entrepreneurs, scientists, chefs, tourists and the general public on a common platform to experience the journey of seafood “from ocean to plate.” The theme for this year’s edition, “Safe, Wholesome & Sustainable Seafood for All,” underscores the commitment to responsible fishing practices, food safety and sustainable seafood consumption.

As part of the celebrations, a Traditional Fishing Boat Racing Competition will be organised on January 15 at the Fisheries Landing Centre (FLC), Junglighat, starting from 10 AM, showcasing traditional fishing skills and the maritime heritage of the islands. Adding to the excitement, a Mr. Chef and Mrs. Chef Competition will be held on the same day at the Marina Park stretch from 3 PM onwards, where participants will prepare dishes using locally available seafood. The pre-cooked seafood dishes will be displayed for the public from 5 PM, allowing visitors to appreciate the diversity and creativity of island seafood cuisine. Winners of the competition will be felicitated on the closing day of the festival.

During the festival, stalls will be allotted to fisher entrepreneurs, cooperatives, fishery institutes, sport fishing institutes, aquarium shops, hotels and restaurants, women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and other stakeholders. These stalls will showcase a wide range of fisheries-related activities, products and services, including live, fresh, chilled and frozen fish, value-added fish products, seafood cuisines, aquariums, fish feed, fisheries requisites and sport fishing services.

The general public, tourists and seafood lovers have been invited to participate in this grand celebration at Sri Vijaya Puram and be part of the empowerment of the fisheries sector, while enjoying a vibrant and memorable celebration of seafood culture at the Island Seafood Festival–2026.
