Island Tourism Festival 2025 to Light Up Andaman & Nicobar Islands from December 27 to 31

The much-awaited Island Tourism Festival (ITF) 2025 will be celebrated across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from December 27 to 31, transforming the archipelago into a vibrant hub of culture, heritage, and festivity. The ITF Ground at Sri Vijaya Puram will serve as the main venue for the flagship celebrations, while a wide array of programmes will unfold simultaneously at multiple locations across the Islands.

As part of the festival, the Art & Culture Department of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration will organise an extensive series of cultural performances at venues including VIP Road, Marina Esplanade, Wandoor, Wimberlygunj, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, and Hut Bay in South Andaman. The celebrations will also extend to Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, and Diglipur in North & Middle Andaman, besides Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay in the Nicobar group of Islands, ensuring island-wide participation and outreach.

For the first time, cultural troupes from different States and Union Territories will perform alongside local organisations, in collaboration with renowned institutions such as the South Zone Cultural Centre and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre. Audiences will be treated to a rich spectrum of classical, folk, and tribal art forms. Performances will include Mayooranrithyam, Thira, Theyyam, Karagattam, Oyilattam, Thappattam, Singarimelam, martial arts displays, Sambalpuri Mahamaya, and Netaji-themed creative dances.

Adding further colour to the festival, the Directorate of Culture & Language, Chhattisgarh will present folk and tribal traditions, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Lucknow will showcase Kathak, artistes from Gujarat will perform Ras Leela, while performers from Jammu & Kashmir will present folk dances such as Rouff, Phardi, Jagarna, and Badherbi.

The Island Tourism Festival 2025 promises to be a grand celebration of unity in diversity, blending the rhythms of mainland India with the cultural soul of the Islands, and offering residents and visitors alike an unforgettable cultural experience. (Story Based on PR)
