A key meeting regarding the upcoming ‘Island Tourism Festival’ (ITF)-2024 was chaired by Mr. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, Director of the Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) Department, on 29th November 2024. Held at the Department of Disaster Management’s conference hall, the meeting laid out plans for the five-day festival scheduled to take place from December 27 to 31, 2024.

The Director informed attendees that the festival would feature a variety of performances by artists from both the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and mainland India. Events will be held at 13 designated venues, including the ITF Ground, to provide entertainment for both Islanders and tourists.

Local cultural associations will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at various locations, with a focus on promoting community engagement. The Director (IP&T) emphasized the importance of collaboration from all line departments to ensure the event’s success. As in previous years, popular attractions such as the ‘Healthy Baby Show’, ‘Flower Show’, ‘Dog Show’, and a Rangoli competition will be part of the celebration.

A major highlight of the festival will be the ‘Hasya Kavi Samelan’, organized by the Official Language Department. Additionally, fun games for children will be set up at the ITF Ground to ensure entertainment for all age groups.

The festival will also feature food courts offering a variety of mouth-watering cuisines, alongside stalls displaying attractive handicrafts. Various departments of the Administration will showcase their ongoing development initiatives in the Islands through dedicated stalls.

The ITF, organized annually by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, serves as a vibrant platform for people of all backgrounds to come together, celebrate, and promote a spirit of unity. The festival highlights the eco-friendly nature of the Islands, positioning them as a prime tourist destination. Both Islanders and visitors are expected to enjoy the festivities when the event kicks off on December 27.
