Island Track Cycling Team Shines at 69th National School Track Cycling Championship

The Island Track Cycling Team put up an impressive performance at the 69th National School Track Cycling Championship held at the Sido Kanhu Velodrome in Ranchi from January 13 to 17, 2026, winning a total of six medals and securing top overall positions in the Under-17 categories.

On the final day of the championship, the Under-17 Boys team—comprising Kingdom Bright, Saw Zekariah, Lionald Becker and Messi Kartson—won a silver medal in the Team Sprint event. The Under-17 Girls team, represented by Rosy Violet, I.S. Bridney, Namita Violet and Anne Minj, also clinched a silver medal in the same event.

Overall, the Island team bagged six medals, including one gold, three silver and two bronze medals. The team also achieved the Overall Runners-Up position in the Under-17 Girls category and Overall Second Runners-Up in the Under-17 Boys category, marking a notable achievement at the national level.

In recognition of her outstanding performance at the championship, cyclist Namita Violet has been selected for the India coaching camp in New Delhi in preparation for upcoming international events.

Congratulating the team on their success, Director of Education Mr. Vikram Singh lauded the cyclists, along with their coach and manager, for their exemplary performance and dedication.
