The Department of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forests and MY Bharat, will organize the Island Trekking Festival on November 15 from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM at Mt. Manipur — one of South Andaman’s most scenic and historically significant trekking routes.

The event aims to promote eco-adventure tourism, engage local youth, and deepen appreciation for the Islands’ natural beauty and historical heritage. It also seeks to encourage youth to pursue eco-guiding and adventure guiding as avenues for self-employment, aligning with the Administration’s vision of sustainable tourism development.

Participation in the festival will be limited to 50 individuals, including local youth, trekking enthusiasts, tour operators, and tourists. The first 50 registered participants will be selected for the trek and will receive participation certificates from the Department of Tourism.

Participants have been requested to assemble near Hope Town Jetty at 6:30 AM for the flag-off. Officials from the Department of Environment & Forests will accompany the group, sharing insights into the area’s rich biodiversity and ecological importance. Comprehensive arrangements will be in place with the support of the Health Department, Transport Department, A&N Police, and Gram Panchayat Hopetown to ensure a smooth and safe trekking experience.

Interested individuals can register by November 14 by emailing andamantourismgh@gmail.com or contacting Mr. Emlus Lakra (9474200066) and Mr. Chander Rao (9434282324). For details regarding the route and plan, participants may reach out to Ms. Rabia Mustafa (9933255364) or Ms. Sandhya Prasad (9474298474). (Story Based on PR)
