‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ aims to provide comprehensive support to artisans and craftspersons who work with their hands and tools. These traditional artisans, referred to as ‘Vishwakarma,’ are engaged in occupations such as blacksmithing, goldsmithing, pottery, carpentry, and sculpture. The scheme seeks to bring a qualitative shift in these trades, enhancing the socio-economic status and quality of life of these artisans.

The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Dollygunj, under the A&N Administration, is set to launch its first batch of training under the ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ at the Government Industrial Training Institute. The initial training will focus on the trade of ‘Tailor’ (Darzi). On June 27, 2024, a Zero-day Assessment of Level 3 verified beneficiaries was conducted at Govt. ITI Dollygunj. A total of 32 beneficiaries have successfully qualified for the five-day basic training program, where they will receive instruction in various skills, including entrepreneurship, new technology, and marketing. Those interested in further skill enhancement will be eligible for a fifteen-day advanced skill training.

All traditional artisans and craftspersons of these Islands are encouraged to register through Common Service Centres (CSCs) to avail themselves of the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana (PMVY).
