A student of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Abhishek Kumar, was allegedly killed by his father in a brutal machete attack inside their residence at Seven Hills Colony, Calicut, Sri Vijaya Puram, on Wednesday evening. The FIR has been registered at Pahargaon Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, pertaining to murder, vide FIR No. 0024 dated February 11, 2026.

According to the complaint lodged by Mrs. Girija Kumari, a regular Home Guard and mother of the deceased, Abhishek had attended college at JNRM earlier in the day. While returning home in the afternoon, he picked up his mother from near Burmanallah Temple. The two then reached their residence at Seven Hills Colony at around 3:30 pm, where they found the main door locked from inside. After repeated knocking and calling out from a window, the door was opened by his father, P. Ajay.

Once inside, the accused allegedly began shouting at Abhishek for returning home late. When his mother objected to the scolding, the accused allegedly pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall to the floor and sustain injuries. Seeing his mother fall, Abhishek intervened and protested against his father’s actions. The situation quickly escalated, with the father allegedly slapping Abhishek. In response, Abhishek pushed his father.

The FIR states that the accused then went into the kitchen, returned with a machete-like sharp weapon, and attacked his son. He allegedly struck Abhishek once and then delivered a second blow to his neck. Severely injured and bleeding profusely, Abhishek struggled in pain and moved towards the bathroom. The accused reportedly rushed out of the house thereafter.

Despite his injuries, Abhishek managed to crawl to the veranda of the house. By this time, his mother had informed their elder son about the assault. An ambulance was called, and Abhishek was rushed to G.B. Pant Hospital for treatment. However, he was declared dead during the course of medical treatment.
