In a strong demonstration of law enforcement’s resolve against crime, Police Station Bambooflat has successfully ensured the conviction of a murder accused, following a thorough and determined investigation that culminated in a life sentence.

The case dates back to April 9, 2022, when an Unnatural Death (UD) case was initially registered at PS Bambooflat. The preliminary investigation was carried out by a Head Constable. However, upon receipt of the Post Mortem Examination (PME) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports, the case was reclassified as a murder case.

The investigation was then taken over by Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, the then Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Bambooflat. The accused, Peter Minj, was subsequently arrested, and all procedural formalities were followed.

Inspector Nasir led a meticulous investigation, piecing together critical evidence and reconstructing the sequence of events that led to the crime. After the investigation was completed, a chargesheet was filed and the case proceeded to trial.

On April 9, 2025, the Hon’ble Sessions Judge pronounced the verdict, convicting Peter Minj under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sentencing him to rigorous life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000. Additionally, the court awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 201 IPC for tampering with evidence.

The case was effectively presented before the Hon’ble Court by Public Prosecutor Mr. Sumit Kumar Karmakar. The conviction stands as a testament to the diligence and professionalism of the investigating team, particularly Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, whose tireless efforts ensured that justice was served for the victim and their family. (Story Based on PR)
