In a swift and efficient operation, Kalighat Police successfully resolved a theft case within hours of receiving a complaint. The incident involved the theft of a significant quantity of areca nuts from the property of local resident Mr. Shadev Uraon.
Upon receiving the complaint, Kalighat Police promptly registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the BNS-2023 and launched an investigation. A dedicated team, led by Station House Officer (SHO) SI Ashok Kumar Baghel and comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mucheray Munda and police constables Irenious and Hazrat Kumar, was formed to pursue the case. Utilizing both manual surveillance and technical expertise, the team quickly identified the suspect, Roni Biswas, 24, son of Mr. Nimai Biswas, a resident of Nabagram.
The suspect attempted to flee the district but was apprehended at Kadamtala with the assistance of the Kadamtala Police. Thanks to the swift coordination between the two police stations, Biswas was caught before he could escape further.
During questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen property. The investigation is ongoing to ensure all aspects of the case are fully addressed.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and was directed by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police for North and Middle Andaman District.
