In a proactive operation conducted on March 29, 2024, the Kalighat Police achieved a significant breakthrough by confiscating a substantial amount of illicit liquor hidden in a dense forest near Parangara Village.
Acting swiftly on received intelligence, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Baghel, Officer-in-Charge of the Kalighat Police Station, assembled a specialized team comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukesh Charan, in-charge of Operation Kishorinagar, and Police Constables Ripon Mistry and Irenious. The team, led by SI Baghel, successfully uncovered and seized 7 litres of illicit liquor, along with 120 litres of Lehan (a fermented solution), and various apparatus and utensils utilised in the production process. These materials were clandestinely stashed within the jungle.
Following the confiscation, the team promptly destroyed 120 litres of Lehan and other paraphernalia associated with the illicit liquor production at the site itself. The seized illicit liquor was transported to the Kalighat Police Station, where a case under the Excise Regulation has been registered.
The operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Diglipur, and under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, and they may be rewarded accordingly.
