Kalighat Police Successfully Dismantles Illicit Liquor Operation in Talbagan Forest

In a decisive move against illegal activities, the Kalighat Police executed a rapid and effective operation on January 17, 2024, successfully dismantling an illicit liquor manufacturing operation hidden within the dense forest of Talbagan, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat.

Under the leadership of SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, a specialised team was swiftly formed to tackle the clandestine operation. The team, headed by ASI Mukesh Charan I/c OP Kishorinagar, included the dedicated personnel of PCs Jaspal Singh, Ripon Mistry, and Shoaib Ali.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of Lehan, totalling 170 litres, cleverly concealed in 8 Jerrycans within the depths of the jungle. Additionally, various utensils and Bhatti articles used for the production of illicit liquor were seized. The confiscated materials were promptly destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network operating in the region.

Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, provided vigilant supervision throughout the operation, ensuring its success. The overall direction and supervision came under the leadership of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

The Kalighat Police urged the general public to contribute to the fight against crime by reporting any credible information related to illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or through phone numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. The identities of informers will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be provided for their assistance. The successful operation exemplifies the unwavering commitment of the Kalighat Police in maintaining law and order in the region.
