In a decisive operation conducted on January 30, 2024, the Kalighat & Rangat Police successfully dismantled illicit liquor operations thriving in the Shyamkund and Talbagan Forests. Acting on credible intelligence, SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, swiftly assembled a team comprising ASI Mukesh Charan, PCs Irenious, Ripon Mistry, and Shoaib Ali. The team was deployed to conduct a thorough jungle search in Talbagan.
During the meticulous search operation, the team seized approximately 280 liters of lehan and 3 litres of illicit liquor from the depths of the Talbagan jungle. In a parallel incident, Inspector R.K Mazumder, SHO PS Rangat, formed a specialized team led by HC Pabitra Sikhari, and comprised of PCs K. Sameer, Pranab Halder, and Ct Subol Bepari. This proactive team successfully confiscated a substantial quantity of 215 litres of lehan, along with containers, various utensils, and timber materials associated with the illicit liquor production process.
No claimants were found at the scenes, prompting the police team to swiftly destroy the recovered lehan and related paraphernalia, delivering a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.
The entire operation unfolded under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, with the overarching direction and oversight of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
