Kisan Call Centre in A&N Islands Offers Crucial Support to Farmers

In a significant move to support the farming community across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Directorate of Agriculture has operationalized a ‘Kisan Call Centre’ at Haddo. The service aims to address farmers’ queries related to agriculture, horticulture, veterinary services, and fisheries.

The Kisan Call Centre can be reached via landline at 03192-243434, and also through a toll-free number 1800-345-1145, which was allotted by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in November 2016. The toll-free number is accessible from all telecom networks, whether landline or mobile.

The call centre operates on all working days from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Farmers can call from any part of the Islands and receive guidance after the call centre operators consult relevant experts from the concerned departments. Importantly, the responses are provided in the local language to ensure clarity and ease of understanding.

This initiative is expected to serve as a vital link between the farming community and agricultural experts, enabling timely and accurate solutions to on-ground challenges faced by farmers.
