Former Member of Parliament of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take immediate action to repair the city’s roads, which have been severely damaged by the ongoing monsoon season.
In a formal appeal to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Sharma highlighted the critical condition of several road stretches in Port Blair and the surrounding areas. He noted that large potholes and extensive damage have made these roads hazardous for daily commuters, including office-goers and school students, who now face increased risks during their travels.
“With the monsoon in full swing, Islanders fear that the situation will deteriorate further if repairs are not undertaken promptly,” said Mr. Sharma, emphasising the urgency of the matter.
Mr. Sharma has called for the Chief Secretary’s immediate intervention to expedite the necessary repair and maintenance work. He stressed that restoring the road infrastructure swiftly would not only ease the difficulties faced by the public but also ensure the safety of all commuters during this challenging season.
The former MP’s appeal underscores the need for swift and decisive action to mitigate the adverse impacts of the monsoon on the city’s infrastructure and safeguard the well-being of its residents.
