KVK South Andaman Conducts Training on Cinnamon Harvesting and Processing

ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), South Andaman organized a three-day skill development programme on “Harvesting and Processing of Cinnamon” from December 17 to 19, 2025. The training was held at the KVK campus and focused on scientific techniques for improving cinnamon production and value-addition.

Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK South Andaman, inaugurated the programme as chief guest and highlighted the potential of cinnamon cultivation under island conditions and its scope for livelihood generation.

Training Coordinator Ms. Sushma, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), along with KVK technical staff, demonstrated scientific methods of harvesting, peeling and processing cinnamon to ensure better quality and market value.

A total of 19 women participants, including farm women and rural youth, attended the programme. The three-day training was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jai Sunder, Director (A), ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram.
