Labour Department Observes 54th National Safety Week, Observance Raised Awareness on Workplace Safety

The Department of Labour, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with industrial establishments and the Education Department, observed the 54th National Safety Week from March 4 to 10, 2025. The weeklong programme aimed at raising awareness about workplace safety among stakeholders and students.

The valedictory function was held on Monday in the Conference Hall of the Labour Department, where Mr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Chief Inspector of Factories, Labour Commissioner & DET, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted on safety-related topics during the week.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srinivasa Rao highlighted the significance of National Safety Week, which is observed annually to promote industrial safety and a culture of well-being in workplaces. He underscored the importance of adhering to safety measures prescribed under the Factories Act, 1948, to ensure a secure work environment.

National Safety Day is celebrated every year on March 4 to enhance safety awareness among workers. The theme for this year’s observance was ‘Safety and Well-Being: Crucial for Viksit Bharat.’
