In a swift response to a tip-off regarding poaching of wildlife protected species, a raiding team led by Sub-Inspector G Mohan Rao, along with constables M Sudarsana Rao, Raja, and Eshan Mondal from the Humfrygunj Police Station, conducted a successful raid at the Fish Landing Centre in Guptapara. The operation resulted in the apprehension of one individual identified as Mohan Kumar, aged 30, hailing from Memyo, Wandoor.
During the raid, authorities seized a significant quantity of wildlife meat, including 36 kilograms of Venison, 9.3 kilograms of Wild Boar meat, and 8.7 kilograms of Turtle meat from a wooden engine dinghy operated by Mohan Kumar. The confiscated wildlife meat and dinghy were promptly seized at the scene.
Following the operation, the seized items, comprising Venison, Wild Boar, and Turtle meat, along with the wooden engine dinghy, were handed over to the Forest Range Officer in Manglutan for further necessary action.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bambooflat, Mr. Sandeep Lamba (DANIPS), and the overall guidance of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
