A joint delegation of Local Born Association and Andaman Moplah Service Organisation recently held a Press Conference. LBA & AMSO recently submitted representations demanding 38% reservation for OBC in the recently advertised recruitment for GTTs and PSTs on short term contract basis for the period 01st July 2023 to 30th April 2024, in Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administartion. Total 539 posts were advertised for recruitment.
In their respective representations, LBA and AMSO attracted the attention of the Chief Secretary towards various Office Memorandums & Gazette Notifications which clearly state that it is mandatory to provide reservation to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class candidates even in temporary appointments which last for 45 days or more in Central Government posts and services.
They requested to review the process initiated to invite online applications for the 539 posts of GTTs and PSTs and to set out 38% reservation for OBC candidates as mandated.
They also requested that all Govt. Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Educational Institutions (Government and Aided) may also be instructed to provide reservation as mandated for all posts including short term vacancies lasting 45 days or more.
