In a bid to promote legal awareness and empower women, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized a successful Legal Awareness Camp on 16th November 2024, at the Working Women’s Hostel, Attam Pahad, South Andaman. The event, held in line with the directives of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), aimed to strengthen women’s understanding of their legal rights, enabling them to confront challenges with confidence and dignity while promoting gender equality.

The camp was led by Ms. Arkabrati Neogi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Port Blair-cum-Secretary of DLSA, A&N Islands, alongside Mr. Anupam Sircar, Judicial Magistrate First Class-II, Port Blair. The distinguished speakers highlighted the various legal support services available to women, including free legal aid, counselling, and guidance on critical issues such as domestic violence, workplace harassment, property rights, matrimonial disputes, and other violations of women’s rights.

Emphasizing the importance of legal empowerment, the speakers underscored its role in ensuring equality, justice, and protection for women. They encouraged the attendees to make use of the services offered by the DLSA and other legal aid institutions to protect their rights and uphold their dignity.

The DLSA reiterated its ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive society by empowering women and improving access to justice.
