The Andaman & Nicobar State Legal Services Authority (A&N SLSA) organized a Legal Awareness Programme at Saraswati Shishu Mandir Senior Secondary School, Pather Gudda, Sri Vijaya Puram, focusing on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
The programme was graced by Mr. Rashid Alam, Member Secretary, A&N State Legal Services Authority. The awareness session was conducted by Ms. Anoushka Singh, Advocate, and Ms. K. Bhawani, Advocate, who sensitized the students about child rights, legal protections, and safeguards available under the law.
During the interaction, the speakers explained the concepts of good touch and bad touch in an age-appropriate and easily understandable manner. To further strengthen awareness on child safety, an informative video prepared by the A&N State Legal Services Authority was screened for the students.
The programme witnessed active participation from both students and teaching staff and was held in the presence of Mr. V. D. Siva Balan, Advocate and Secretary of the School, and Mr. A. Raja Marthandan, Principal of the School.
The awareness programme concluded successfully and received positive feedback from the participants, reflecting its effectiveness in promoting legal literacy and child safety awareness among students.
