Andaman & Nicobar Islands is famous for its beautiful coastlines, water sports activities, pristine beaches etc. Hordes of naturally beautiful spots attract a large number of tourists both domestic and international to the Islands. To promote Andaman Tourism in the global arena, efforts are being made by the A&N Administration to provide the best services at par with international standards. The technology-driven world has indeed made things easier for people. The Tourism Department of A & N Administration is striving to digitally promote tourism destinations, keeping in mind the needs and wants of tourists visiting the Islands.
As part of its effort towards the digital promotion of Tourism destinations, the Department has come up with a tech-driven idea to facilitate tourists with information at their fingertips by developing a mobile app titled ‘My Swaraj Dweep’. The Mobile App was formally launched by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) with the click of the remote button at a brief function held in the conference hall of Raj Niwas on 6th December 2022. The Lt. Governor congratulated the Tourism Department for developing the Mobile App for the benefit of Tourists as well as the Islanders.
Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr Keshav Chandra, IAS, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (IP&T), Mr Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Secretary (IP&T), Mr Hari Kallikkat, IAS and Senior Officers of A&N Administration were present during the Mobile App launch function.
Giving a brief introduction of the App, the Secretary (IP&T), Mr Hari Kallikkat said the Tourism Department’s mobile application on Swaraj Dweep titled ‘My Swaraj Dweep’ has been developed with the guidance and constant support of the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner–cum– Secretary, IP&T. This Mobile App will guide the tourists on various aspects, such as how to reach Swaraj Dweep, tourist circuit, interesting tourism spots, where to stay, how to book, live locations, water sports activities to choose at Swaraj Dweep etc.
Apart from this, information such as Dos and Don’ts, important phone numbers etc. have also been included in this App. The QR code of the App will be made available to all tourism stakeholders to ensure maximum reach, especially among tourists.
One can download the app by visiting the website https://www.andamantourism.gov.in/MySwarajDweep.apk. For wide publicity and easy access to the app by tourists, standees and banners will be placed at different locations. This app which has been exclusively launched for tourists will redress their grievances and offer several tourism-related facilities in the Islands. Further, steps will also be initiated to develop a mobile application for the entire Andaman Tourism in the coming days.
