Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, reviewed a presentation by the Health Department on the Medicare Infrastructure of Himachal Pradesh. The review, held at Raj Niwas, was aimed at exploring the feasibility of adopting Himachal’s Medicare model in the Union Territory.
The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar and senior health officials, focused on strategies to enhance the functioning of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in the islands. Discussions also revolved around measures to address the shortage of specialist doctors, incorporating key insights gathered from a recent field visit by A&N representatives to Himachal Pradesh.
