The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor (HLG) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands recently held an engaging interaction with 28 probationary officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) who are currently undergoing their training. The diverse group of young officers, representing the future of India’s law enforcement, posed a series of thought-provoking questions during the session.
Addressing the probationers, the HLG emphasized the strategic significance of the islands and outlined the Administration’s focus on balanced development. He elaborated on ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure, healthcare, education, and connectivity while ensuring ecological balance and sustainability.
On the tourism front, the HLG stressed the need for responsible expansion across the islands to generate employment opportunities, support local communities, and showcase the region’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
The session also included a comprehensive overview of the batch of probationary officers. The batch, which recently visited Visakhapatnam, is set to continue its training with upcoming visits to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Their diverse academic and professional backgrounds reflect the rich talent pool entering India’s civil services.
Concluding the interaction, the HLG expressed confidence in the probationers’ potential to uphold the values of the Indian Police Service and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development. The officers left the session inspired and with a deeper understanding of the strategic, security, and developmental priorities of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
