Lt. Governor-A & N Islands Calls on PM Modi, Briefs PM on Mega Projects Nearing Implementation Phase in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, met with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi. Admiral Joshi extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on his historic third consecutive term in office.

During the meeting, Admiral Joshi provided a detailed briefing on several key developmental projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands that are approaching the implementation phase. These projects include:

-International Container Transhipment Terminal: A major initiative to enhance the maritime logistics capabilities of the region.

-Great Nicobar Islands Project: Comprehensive development plans aimed at boosting the local economy and infrastructure.

-Green Field Airport: A new airport to improve connectivity and support tourism.

-Development of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep as National Memorial: Transforming the island into a national heritage site.

-Deep Water Port at Atlanta Bay: Enhancing port infrastructure to facilitate better maritime trade.

-Infrastructure at Ranilakshmi Bai Shila: Improving facilities to support tourism and local development.

-Other Tourism and Hospitality Projects: Various initiatives aimed at boosting the tourism sector in the islands.
