Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency culminating the three day tour to Southern Group of Islands addressed a public meeting with locals/PRIs and Govt. Officials at APWD Guest House, Campbell Bay on 28th April 2023. LG directed for early redressal of issues raised. Hon’ble Lt Governor briefed about the various mega infrastructure developmental projects coming in A & N Islands to boost tourism and employment for the Islanders. Hon’ble Lt Governor visited the Southern-most Light house of India and also reviewed the construction of North-South road by Border Road Organisation which is nearing completion and project sites of International Container Transshipment Terminal and new Green Field Airport.
During the public meeting, the general public and PRI Members raised several issues before the LG. Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay raised the issue of Islander Card, improvement in Health Facilities, Implementation of MSP for purchase of Copra, Early Sanction of New Water Projects, Beautification of Campbell Bay Area, Containerised Cargo Transportation Onboard DSS Vessels, Trasit Accommodation for residents of Campbell Bay at Port Blair, Starting flights under UDAN Scheme, Repair of School Buildings, Auction of Earth Quarry and Construction of a Multipurpose Sports Hall.
