Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, visited the Army War College to address the Joint Capsule (JOCAP-25) of the Army, Navy and Air Force Higher Command Courses.
During his address, the Lt. Governor highlighted the strategic significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Indo-Pacific region. He also outlined key tourism, hospitality, and infrastructure projects being implemented under the Islands Development Agency.
Among the major developments, he emphasized the successful operationalization of the CANI undersea Optical Fiber Cable (OFC), the induction of higher-capacity Sikorsky helicopters and seaplanes to enhance air connectivity, and the commencement of AirAsia international flights connecting Sri Vijaya Puram to Kuala Lumpur. He further mentioned the construction progress of the Azad Hind Fauj Setu over Humphrey Strait and the upcoming bridge over Middle Strait.
Additionally, he spoke about the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Galathea Bay, the development of two new Greenfield International Airports at Great Nicobar Island (GNI) and Sri Vijaya Puram (SVP), and the Deep Water Port at Atlanta Bay, Diglipur.
