Admiral D K Joshi (Retd.), the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency (IDA), met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday to discuss the progress of key tourism, hospitality, and infrastructure mega projects nearing completion in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
During the meeting, Lt. Governor Joshi provided an update on several major initiatives being spearheaded by the IDA, emphasizing their role in boosting the region’s development and economy. He also recommended scheduling the next meeting to plan follow-up strategies and projects for the upcoming phase of island development.
In addition to the project briefing, Lt. Governor Joshi sought early approvals from the Standing Finance Committee (SFC) and the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPAC) for proposals submitted by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. These proposals, currently under review by various central ministries, are seen as crucial for advancing key development projects in the islands.
The Lt. Governor’s engagement with the Union Minister underscores the Administration’s commitment to fast-tracking development initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism and infrastructure in the A&N Islands.
