Lt. Governor Admiral DK Joshi Invites Power Minister to Visit A & N Islands, Seeks Expedited Action on Key Power Projects

Admiral DK Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, met with Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Minister of Power, during his visit to New Delhi. During the meeting, Admiral Joshi extended a formal invitation to the Power Minister to visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The Lt. Governor emphasized the need to accelerate critical projects related to the power sector in the islands. He requested swift action on developing power infrastructure for Great Nicobar Island as well as the establishment of a 50 MW LNG Mega Power Plant under the Clean Energy initiative in Sri Vijaya Puram.

Admiral Joshi also spoke to the minister regarding the HVDC Link project, urging its realisation to ensure an alternate and additional power source for the islands. These projects, he said, are essential in fulfilling the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) championed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Lt. Governor’s push for fast-tracking these key initiatives reflects the region’s growing strategic importance and its role in contributing to the national agenda of sustainable development.
