Lt. Governor Chairs Meeting on Proposed Guinness World Record Attempt for Scuba Diving in A&N Islands

Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, chaired a pivotal review meeting at Raj Niwas to discuss the proposed Guinness World Record attempt for Scuba Diving in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The primary aim of this ambitious initiative is to position the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on the global map as a premier diving destination, thereby boosting tourism. The meeting saw the participation of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, DGP, A&N Islands, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastava, IPS, along with other senior officers from the A&N Administration and A&N Command.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the logistical and strategic aspects of setting multiple Scuba Diving world records. Key topics included selecting appropriate locations, organizing logistics, and identifying specific records to target.

Decisions made during the meeting are expected to pave the way for a series of world-record attempts that will showcase the unique underwater beauty of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, attracting diving enthusiasts from around the globe and enhancing the islands’ reputation as a top-tier diving and tourist destination in the Indian Ocean Region.
