Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Vice-Chairman Islands Development Agency, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) on 26th December 2022, led the Islanders in paying homage to those who lost their lives in the devastating Tsunami of 2004.
At a solemn function organised by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration on the occasion of the 18th Anniversary of the Tsunami at the Tsunami Memorial at Water Sports Complex, the Lt. Governor placed a wreath and offered floral tributes at the Memorial. This was followed by the offering of floral tributes by the First Lady of A & N Islands, Mrs. Chitra Joshi, the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Adhyaksha, ZPSA, Mrs. Pramila Kumari, DGP, Mr. Neeraj Thakur, Chairperson, PBMC, Mrs. U Kavitha, Councillors of PBMC, Senior Officers of A&N Administration, prominent citizens, school students and the general public.
All Religion Prayer Meeting (Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha) was also organised on the occasion and a two-minute silence was observed to remember those who lost their lives in the devastating Tsunami.
